Grandi conferme e grandi scossoni ai 29° Screen Actors Guild Awards, i premi al cinema e alla tv assegnati ogni anno dal sindacato attori di Hollywood. In una piazza pulita senza precedenti, Everything Everywhere All At Once vince quattro statuette su quattro categorie: miglior cast, miglior attrice protagonista, miglior attrice non protagonista e miglior attore non protagonsita.
Tutti gli altri interpreti e lungometraggi sono rimasti essenzialmente a bocca asciutta, in particolar modo Gli spiriti dell’isola, che come il film dei Daniels arrivava alla cerimonia con ben 5 nomination totali.
Un po’ a sorpresa, miglior attore è assegnato a Brendan Fraser per The Whale, mentre Michelle Yeoh diventa la contender diretta di Cate Blanchett all’Oscar. Jamie Lee Curtis invece, batte la super-favorita Angela Bassett e conferma quanto la categoria dell’interprete di supporto sia adesso una corsa a tre: la Bassett, la Curtis e Kerry Condon.
