Ai VES Awards 2023, i riconoscimenti al meglio degli effetti visivi nel cinema e nella televisione assenati ogni anno dalla Visual Effects Society, Avatar: La via dell’acqua vince nove premi su 14 nomination, record assoluto per la storia del sindacato.

In precedenza, il record mai battuto fino ad ora era stato detenuto da Il signore degli anelli: Le due torri nel lontano 2003. Tra gli altri vincitori nelle varie categorie, anche il Tredici vite di Ron Howard e il Pinocchio di Guillermo del Toro nell’animazione:
